Vista and Windows 7 Operating Systems
Additional steps may be required for installing TagIt Manager software
on a computer with the Vista or Windows 7 operating system:

TagIt Manager software is based on Paradox 10 Runtime which is not fully compatible with Vista or Windows 7.  (If the instructions below do not work and you have a 64-bit operating system, see important additional notes.)
First, download both TagIt Manager and Paradox 10 Runtime.  After installing both, the following additional steps may be required.
Select Compatibility Mode First try to set the compatibility mode.  Then try restarting our software program.
Help Files If you get this far, the software is working but pressing F1 for help files does not work.  Vista or Windows 7 may give you the information you need to solve this.  If not, see this section.
Other information Other useful information to calm your mind when using Vista.
I have already entered lots of items.  Now what? If you entered lots of items before setting the compatibility mode, you need to follow special instructions so that you do not lose your data.
Select Compatibility Mode
Note:  Since Paradox 10 Runtime is considered an older program by Vista or Windows 7, it works best if Vista or Windows 7 runs the program in a compatibility mode for XP.
1.  Right click on the desktop icon for TagIt Manager.

2.  Click on Properties.

3.  Click on Compatibility tab.  (If you receive an error message, see the note about 64-bit operating systems.)

4.  Check box to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

5.  Check the box to "Run this program as an administrator."

Help Files
Note:  The context-sensitive help files for this software use an older Windows help program that is no longer included with Vista.  It must be downloaded separately.
Open the TagIt Manager program and press F1.  Vista will probably notify you that the help files are based on an older program and provide a link for you to download the program.
If not, try this link: Download winhlp32.exe for Vista
For additional information: Old help files not included with Vista

Other
Exiting the program will result in an error message.  This is annoying but does not cause any problems.

What should I do not?  I have lots of data entered but I did not change the compatibility mode to XP before starting.  Should I change it now?
If you have entered items before changing the compatibility mode to XP, the items may appear to disappear after changing the compatibility mode because Windows 7 will look for the data in different folders.  If you want to change the compatibility mode and save the old data, do the following:
1.  Make a backup of your data before changing the compatibility mode by going to File menu and choosing Backup.  (If you already changed the compatibility mode and then noticed your items were "missing", remove the check for "Run this program in compatibility mode".  Your data should be visible again.  Then do the backup.)

2.  Change the compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or 3) and check "Run this program as an adminsitrator" as explained in an earlier section.

3.  Open TagIt.  Assuming your old data is not visible, go to File menu and choose Restore.  Choose the backup file you created in step 1 above.

4.  Hopefully all is well!
