Software for the consignor


Instructions for Using TagItLite or TagIt Some consignment sales make TagItLite available to their consignors without charge to improve sale efficiency, particularly with the use of barcodes. Some consignors will prefer to upgrade to TagIt. These instructions explain each step of the process from acquiring the software to using it with a sale for both TagItLite and TagIt.

If you have used TagItLite or TagIt previously, you may only need to complete the steps in yellow. More information about using TagItLite again

A. Description	Limited version of TagIt provided without charge to consignor by specific consignment sale. Use is limited to one sale. See video.	Full featured software for creating tags and managing inventory that can be used by consignor at multiple sales. Most sales provide a discount code worth a 20% reduction in price. See video.

B. Update software	If already have a previous version of TagItLite, check for an update.	If already have a previous version of TagIt, check for an update.

C. Download software	Download TagItLite for the first time by registering. You will need the username and password provided by the participating consignment sale. Save (not Run) the download on your computer where you can find it, perhaps your desktop. Need more help? Problems with the download? If you leave TagItLite installed on your computer, you will not need to download again for the next sale.	After ordering and paying for TagIt, you will be able to download the software. (If you are not taken back to the download page after making a PayPal payment, repeat the ordering process and go to "My Account". You will need to log in and check your orders. Need more help?)

D. Install software	Double click on the downloaded file which is named tagitlitesetup.exe. Follow the prompts. It is strongly recommended that you install in the default directories. If you have the Vista or Windows 7 operating system, it is very important that you set the compatibility mode to XP. Click here to learn how. Need more help? E. Download and import sale profile	Download the appropriate sale profile. Save it to a location where you can find it. One possibility is the default installation at c:/program files/tagitlite or c:/program files (x86)/tagitlite. From TagItLite, click on Import Sale Profile and follow prompts. F. Download and install barcode font	If your sale requires barcodes, you will need a font to create the barcodes on your tags. Go to http://www.idautomation.com/free-barcode-products/code39-font/. (If you have done this before, there is no need to do it another time.) 1. Choose "Download Windows version from IDAutomation" 2. Save the file where you can find it. 3. After the download is complete, open the zip file by double-clicking on IDAutomationCode39.zip and then double-click on “INSTALL.exe.” 4. You may need to restart your computer. G. Test installation	It is a good idea to test your installation. Enter at least 8 items and then print out a test page of tags. (TagItLite users may want to reset the starting item number if you have participated in a previous sale. Click here for help.) Don't wait until the day before the sale! 1. If your tags print correctly, continue adding the rest of your items! 2. If you cannot print at all, the most common problem is long printer names. Click here for help. 3. If there are other issues with printing, first try adjusting your printer’s settings (each printer will print the tags differently). H. Export Inventory	Some sales will ask consignors to send an electronic copy of their completed inventory to the sale as an email attachment. This helps the sale track inventory more closely and provides more detailed reporting to the consignor after the sale.
	On the Sale Items tab, click on the Export button. You may be asked to fill in contact information. Note the name and directory of the resulting compressed file. Send the file as an email attachment to the sale.	On the Selected Sale/Tags tab, click on the Export button. You may be asked to fill in contact information. I. Sale Results	Available only from participating sales if upgrade to TagIt and transfer data from TagItLite. Transfer items from TagItLite to TagIt	Some sales will provide results to the consignor using TagIt in electronic form so that the sale results are updated to include price and other information from the sale.

J. Future Sales	Can be reactivated for use with a future sale that makes TagItLite available to consignors. You will lose the items that were entered previously when you import the new sale profile. There is no need to uninstall or reinstall the program although it may be good to check for program updates. Need more information?	All you will need is a sale profile for the new sale.
