Finding Your
Export (or other) File
for TagIt and TagItLite |
| Some sales ask the consignor to send
a file that contains detailed information about the consignors
sale items. The value of doing this is that the sale has
more detailed information about each item and more detailed
reports can be given back to consignors at then end of the sale. |
| A. General instructions: |
| TagItLite - After entering
all items, click on the Export button on the Sale Items tab of
the TagIt Lite Main Form. |
| TagIt - After entering all
items, click on the Export button on the 3 - Selected
Sale/Tags tab of the TagIt Main Form. |
| Both - Follow the prompts and
note the name and location of the file that is created.
The name of the file is based on the first few letters of the
sale name and the consignor ID with a zip extension. (The
consignor may be prompted to enter personal information which is
included in the file.) If more than one export file has
been created, a number may be added at the end of the root of
the file name. E.g. SAM134ID2.zip is the name of the
export file created for the Sample Consignment Sale for
consignor 134. The 2 indicates that this was the second
export file created. Depending on the settings on your
computer, you may not see the zip extension. |
| TagItLite default file
location: c:\program files\tagitlite or c:\program files
(x86)\tagitlite |
| TagIt default file location:
c:\program files\tagit or c:\program files (x86)\tagit |
| See below for attaching the file to
an email. |
| |
| B. The export file is not in the
default folder |
| If you have the Vista or
Windows 7
operating system and cannot find the export file in the default
location, it is possible that the file is located in the
"virtual store" where "compatibility files" may be created.
(These instructions may also apply to files created by the
backup procedure or diagnostics.) |
| These files may even be "hidden" if
you have not changed the default setting for viewing files.
How to display hidden files and folders. |
| Here is how to look for the export
file: |
| |
| 1. |
Press the Windows Start key and
choose Computer. The shortcut for this is to hold down the
Windows Start key and press E. |
| 2. |
Navigate to the default location
where you have been told to look for the export file, e.g
c:\program files\tagitlite. |
| 3. |
You have probably already checked here and not
found the desired export file. |
 |
| 4. |
Does "Compatibility files" show here? If
so, click on it and hopefully you will find the file |
| 5. |
If you find the file, see below for
options on attaching the export file to an email. |
| |
|
| If you cannot find the
file using the above method, try navigating to the following
folder in Windows 7. For Vista, most likely you need to
substitute "Program File" for "Program File (x86)".
Remember that you may need to display
hidden files and folders. |
| |
TagItLite: |
| |
users\[your user name]\app
data\local\VirtualStore\Program File (x86)\TagItLite |
| |
TagIt: |
| |
users\[your user name]\app
data\local\VirtualStore\Program File (x86)\TagIt |
| |
|
|
| C. Attaching the export file to
an email |
| Your options depend upon your email
program. |
| 1. |
Email programs such as Windows Mail,
Outlook, Outlook Express, or Mozilla Thunderbird allow you to
copy the file by right-clicking on the file in My Computer and
selecting Copy and then right-clicking in the email and
selecting Paste. |
| 2. |
Web-based email programs usually
provide a way to navigate to the file that you would like to
attach. Because the "compatibility files" may be hidden,
this may not be possible. You may need to find the file as
in B. above and then copy the file to a folder that can be
located by your email program. |
