Error Messages

Below are some possible error messages you might see and suggestions about what to do.  They are organized by when you may receive the error message.  (Also check other help for existing users.)
       
  A.  When trying to run a file after download
    1. "Corrupt file"
      This usually means that your download has been unsuccessful and that you will need to try again.  If you are trying to download Paradox 10 Runtime for use with TagIt, click here.  For TagItLite, click here.
    2. "Not a valid win32 application"
      Paradox 10 Runtime is a valid win32 application.  See help above for downloading and trying again.
       
  B. After clicking on a desktop icon (TagItLite, TagIt, or TagIt Manager) for the first time after installation
    1. "Can't find..." or "Searching for...pdwrwn32.exe"
      Did you actually install Paradox 10 Runtime?
      Did you install to some location other than the default directories?
    2. "Network initialization failed"
      If you have Vista or Windows 7, did you set the compatibility mode to Windows XP? Click here for TagIt or TagIt Manager.  Click here for TagItLite.
    3. "Could not initialize BDE"
      If you have Vista or Windows 7, did you set the compatibility mode?  See above.
      It may help to uninstall Paradox 10 Runtime and reinstall with different settings if you have more than one user account on the computer.  See BDE Errors.
    4. "Directory is busy"
      Sometimes stray lock files are left by the program if there is an abnormal termination to the program.  See Lock Files.
       
  C. Printing
    1. Nothing seems to happen after I try to print.  The program locks up and I have to exit and start again.
      You may need to end the ctfmon.exe process.  Click here for more information.
    2. General Protection
      Shorten your printer name if it is longer than 31 characters.  Click here for more information.
    3. "No printer installed"
      This seems to happen more frequently with the Vista operating system.  Try turning off your computer and printer and restarting.  Contact me if the error continues.
    4. "LCAPPPrint:  Initialize Failed" or "Printer Interface Setup Error"
      Try printing without a preview.  In TagItLite right-click on the Create Tags button.  In TagIt check the "No Preview" box above the Preview/Print Tags button.  If this does not work and you have different user accounts, try using different accounts.  Or try uninstalling Paradox 10 Runtime and reinstalling using a different setting.
    5. "The field number or name is not in the table"
      You may have inserted an incorrect field name when creating a tag layout using TagIt.  Download and import "sale profile" if available.
    6. "No items selected" message when clearly items are selected for printing tags
      Windows date setting may not match Paradox date setting.  Change Windows date setting to MM/DD/YYYY.  Click here for more information.
    7. The required barcodes do not appear on the preview
